AEB: Russia’s car, LCV sales rise 24.7% to 133,177 units in Feb

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) rose 24.7% on the year to 133,177 units in February, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Tuesday.

In January–February, the sales grew 27.5% to 235,641 units.

“Russian car market sales continue to demonstrate healthy momentum in February, extending the string of uninterrupted year-on-year growth to a robust 12-month period. Over 27% improvement in the first 2 months are an impressive turnaround for market battered which bad news until just one year ago. Moving forward, market outlook remains positive but it is reasonable to expect that the pace of year-on-year recovery should slow down as a result of the growing base effect applying from March last year,” he AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ grew 37% on the year to 27,401 cars in February and 33% to 48,406 units in January–February.
